Windows 10 Web Search Suggestions
Note: This option requires editing the Registry which can cause stability issues if you do something wrong. Playing around in the Registry isn’t for the faint of heart. Before proceeding make sure you back up your system first.
Disable Web Search Suggestions
To get started open the Registry by hitting Windows Key + R on your keyboard and type: regedit and hit Enter.
Next, head to the following path: Now right-click on the Windows key and choose New > Key.
Next, give that key the name: Explorer and press Enter. Right-click the newly created Explorer key and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Name that key DisableSearchBoxSuggestions and hit Enter. Double-click the newly created DWORD and set the value from 0 to 1. Click OK and restart your PC. You have to restart the system for the changes to go into effect.
Once you get back from the restart when you search for anything through the Start menu, you’ll no longer see any results from Bing. Also, search for local content should improve since you are no longer getting web results mixed in with your search queries. If you want to change it back and add web results again, go back and change the DWORD value for DisableSearchBoxSuggestions to 0 or delete the keys you created originally. That’s all there is to it. Now you will no longer get web results for Windows Search in the Start menu. Or, the Search box in the taskbar.
